Winter’s colder temperatures and low humidity levels, both indoors and out, can lead to dry, thirsty skin. The winter months can be especially challenging for those who struggle with dryness and sensitivity year-round. Dry skin is also common as we get older as a result of prolonged sun exposure and decreased of oil production.

With the consistent practice of these 6 tips, you’ll get relief from the negative effects of these seasonal skin changes.

  1. Use a Gentle Cleanser. Using a cleanser free of soap and alcohol ensures your natural oils aren’t stripped away when you cleanse. We recommend plant-based Omega 3 Soothing Cleanser - it’s ideal for sensitive skin and leaves it refreshed and nourished.
  2. Moisturize 2x/day. Even if you have oily skin, it’s important to moisturize morning and night. Apply your moisturizer directly after you cleanse your face, ideally while it’s still damp, to ensure your skin properly seals in all of its hydrating benefits. Our Sensitive Skin Moisturizer is lightweight and perfect for all skin types - it’s formulated with liposomes and vitamins A & E to provide nourishment and all-day moisture to the skin.
  3. If your skin is excessively dehydrated, use a face cream instead of a moisturizer. If you struggle with dry, sensitive skin throughout the year, it’s likely that your skin is even more affected by dry winter weather. More specifically, use a face cream that’s formulated without fragrance or parabens to reduce irritation and sensitivity. Revercel’s Omega 3 Nourishing Facial Crème does just that – it provides optimal nourishment and moisture to the skin. It’s formulated with plant-based lipids, shea butter and antioxidants to reduce redness and inflammation too.
  4. Hydrate. Water, water and more water! Drink more water throughout the day than you think you need to. It’s as simple as that. Try drinking fewer caffeinated products, soda and alcohol and opt for H2O instead.
  5. Apply a nightly serum. Serums target specific skin care concerns that other products can’t. They more deeply penetrate than other products to deliver more noticeable results.  For dry skin, a serum infuses extra hydration while also preventing the loss of moisture from the skin. Sea Plant Hydrating Serum is formulated with seaweed extract to soothe, soften and reduce sensitivity. Its lightweight formula makes it ideal for sensitive, dry skin.
  6. Opt for lukewarm water. Water that is too hot can strip the skin of natural oils and further dry out already dehydrated skin. Hot water can also cause irritation and redness. Instead, use lukewarm or cold water when you wash your face.
