We're always excited to share free and easy tips to improve the beauty and health of your skin. After all, skin is the largest and arguably (we think) the most beautiful organ of your body and it deserves self-care and pampering.

We've gathered a few of the best tips that are mostly free (except for a couple ingredients that most of you will have in your kitchen). As a note, we stayed away from some of the more obvious tips like keeping well hydrated, eating a healthy diet and of course, getting enough sleep.

Tip #1: Give Yourself a Facial Massage

Have puffy eyes? No problem. With clean hands, use your ring fingers to press gently on the orbital bone, moving from the inner to outer corner of your eyes and repeating two to three times.

Massaging your face will not only stimulate circulation, but it also helps minimize fine lines and reduce inflammation.

WikiHow provides excellent guidance on how to give yourself a facial massage, specifically for Face-Brightening, Lifting & Firming and Stress Busting. Treat yourself to a self-massage once a day, either in the morning or at night before you go to sleep.

As an added benefit, a good facial massage reduces stress, leaving you feeling more relaxed. If you prefer to have a friend or partner give you a facial massage, share this great step-by-step how to give a dry facial massage with photos guide. You can even adapt some of these steps to try and use on yourself!

stop touching your face

Tip #2: Stop Touching Your Face (ok, we know this is a contradiction from above, but read on…)

There'’s a difference between giving yourself a facial massage with clean hands versus randomly touching your face throughout the day. You’'re probably touching your face right now aren’t you?

The US National Institute of Health, says people touch their faces an average of 3.6 times per hour.

Our hands come in contact with millions of germs via smartphones, computers, doorknobs, shoelaces, and more. Don't let these germs make it to your face, as this can lead to an unwanted acne breakout.

We know sometimes it feels very natural to touch your face but the more mindful you can be about avoiding it, the better off - especially if you have acne-prone skin. Also as flu-season approaches, every time people touch their mouth or nose, they transfer bacteria and viruses between their face and their hands. This is even more reason to stop touching your face.

DIY pimple cream

Tip #3: D-I-Y Pimple Cream: Put Some Sea Salt on It!

Sea salt has powerful antibacterial properties. It works to pull oil from the pore.

We suggest combining: one teaspoon of sea salt with enough water to form a paste. Place a small size of a dot amount on the offending pimple and let it dry for up to an hour (10 minutes for sensitive skin types) and then rinse it off. As an alternative, you can apply ice over the pimple to reduce inflammation.

DYI face peel lemons

Tip #4: Make a Do-It-Yourself Face Peel

There are so many homemade masks out there but what about homemade peels? Not so much. This one is a tried and true favorite amongst many of us.

It requires a couple household items: baking soda, water, and a splash of lemon juice. Mix two teaspoons of baking soda with one teaspoon of water, and squeeze in a little lemon juice. Apply it to your face (avoid eye area) and let it dry for five minutes before rinsing with water.

Then say hello to radiant skin! If you have sensitive skin try the peel on a small patch of skin first to avoid any negative reactions.
